THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO FINDING GOOD HOMES FOR NEEDY PETS

This page is to help find good homes for pets who need them.  Many of the animals, and their owners,  have found themselves in a position of being unable to keep their current pet(s) or needing a new home due to the passing of their owner.

Harvey
Dog

Breed: Catahoula/Australian Shepard Mix
Size: Medium
Age: One year
Sex: Male

Notes: Harvey was rescued by Catahoula United Rescue Society from a shelter in Delano, CA where he had been picked up as a stray. Someone docked his tail and cut off his ears, but he doesn't let that stop him from being super cute and expressive as he wags his little stump! He came to Sacramento on July 22 to his foster home and has settled in very well.

Harvey is anxious to find his forever home. He is very sweet, adaptable and easy going. He gets along with his foster dog and cat family. He shows signs of being very obedient if given the chance to learn (they're working on it)! He just wants to please his people and be loved. He should do well in a home with a family. If you want to learn more about adopting Harvey and making him a loving part of your family, you can contact his foster mom , or find out more about him on dogster.com or catahoulaunited.com.

Hound Mix
Size: Small
Age: Adult
Sex: Male
ID:

Notes: Fluffy is our near perfect dog for the person who wants just that. He is about 10 years old, however, looks identical to the time that he had just entered the world. His owner had surrendered him for no other reason than that he was tired of looking at him. Now I've heard just about every reason for surrendering a dog. AnyFluffy is nonshedding so there will not be any dog hair in the house. He never gets up on furniture unless someone actually puts him there. He never begs for food and never needs to go for a walk. Fluffy is totally nondemanding. He had never cost his former owner any money since his initial investment. He has never had any illnesses or injuries which necessitated visits to a veterinarian. Fluffy never barks, and he never dug any holes in the yard. He has never brought in any muddy foot prints, never vomited on the carpet and never made any mistakes in the house. Fluffy never left any doggy snot on the windows and he never chewed a single item. He never has a doggy odor and never needs grooming. Fluffy would never bite for any reason even in self defense, so he is the perfect pet for the person who is inclined to kick or beat an animal. We can guarantee that anyone who adopts Fluffy will have the same experience with him as his former owner. As said, Fluffy is the near perfect dog. However, he is near perfect, not perfect. His faults are that he never greets his owner at the door to say he thinks his owner is the best person to ever walk the earth. He never looks at you when you talk and cocks his head like he is really interested in what you are saying. Fluffy doesn't really have any sense of humor and has never done any cute things or doggy tricks. He doesn't give a sense of warmth, unconditional love and loyalty that we get from our other shelter dogs that we have come to know. Hate to say it, but Fluffy acts pretty much like he is in a coma with his eyes open. But, for some people, he is the perfect pet.

Author - Cheryl Strub

Adopting a pet should not be taken lightly. Pets have needs and have issues as do humans. They are not perfect. People should only adopt a pet if they have every intention to commit to that animal for it's life. Make sure you understand what pet ownership involves and are willing to accept all the bad along with the good before you adopt.

Tiffany-UPDATED!

Terrier Mix

Size: Small
Age: Senior
Sex: Female
Notes: Tiffany is a sweet little girl that is looking for a new home. Her family is forced to find her a new home as they can no longer give her the love she needs. She is about 10 yrs old and around 20lbs. She loves other dogs and all people. Up until a year ago she was inside with the family, but now, through no fault of her own, she is an outside dog. I'm sure she would love to be warm and inside with the family again....might you consider letting her into your home?

UPDATE: Tiffany is now in a wonderful foster home - but still needs a loving permanent place to call HOME! If you are interested in meeting this wonderful girl - please contact us right away!

Eugene

Chow Chow Mix

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Notes: If you like Chows, you'll love Eugene! He is a wonderful sweet, mellow boy. We think he is around 3-4 yrs old and weighs about 45lbs. He came to us with so many matts...we think he might not have been taken care of very well. Despite that, he has a great attitude. Although he is reserved and independent (as all great chows are!), he is also very friendly and even wags his tail when you say his name. He is very quiet and good in a crate...he is also housebroken! He seems fine with all the dogs he's met and due to his mild mannered temperament we think he would do just fine in a home with older children :o) All in all, Eugene is a great boy who can't wait to find a new home that appreciates what wonderful companions that chows can make :o)

UPDATE:
We sadly just found out that Eugene is heartworm positive. He will begin treatment, but we need help to cover his medical bills. Please contact us right away if you can help by making a tax deductible donation!

NEW UPDATE:
Eugene is through his heartworm treatment and is loving life! Although he is still very mellow, he now runs and plays....tossing his toys in the air to catch! He will require a home that will be patient with him at first, as he is unsure of new situations - it might take a week or two for him to feel totally comfortable, but when he does, boy is he a sweet fun teddy bear, who loves playtime, walks, rides in the car and hugs and kisses!
